Flamengo announces the signing of experienced American power forward Markeith Cummings, 36, for the 2025/26 FlaBasquete season. After a stint in the Japanese B.League, the player arrives with a strong international resume and extensive experience.
Born in Alabama (USA) and a former Kennesaw State player, Cummings has played in several countries and leagues—including the United States, France, Japan, and Angola, where he won the Basketball Africa League in 2024 with Petro de Luanda. Last season, he played for the Japanese team Shiga Lakestars, where he averaged 15,3 points, 5,1 rebounds, and 3,1 assists per game in 51 appearances, making him one of the league's top players.
Recognized for his offensive versatility, creative ability and efficiency — with a 54,1% field goal percentage last season — Cummings arrives at Orgulho da Nação to reinforce the red-black team with his technical arsenal and international experience.
