Flamengo defeats Olimpia and advances to the final of the U-20 Libertadores Cup.

Flamengo beat Olimpia-PAR 2-1 this Thursday (19), at the Banco Guayaquil Stadium, in Quito, Ecuador, in the semi-final of the Libertadores Sub-20. With goals from Ryan Roberto and Pablo Lúcio, Rubro-Negro secured a place in the final of the competition for the third consecutive year.

With this result, the Flamengo youth team also extended their unbeaten streak in the tournament's history to 16 games, with 12 wins.

The game

Flamengo started the match with an offensive posture and created danger in the very first minute, when Alan shot first-time after a clearance from the opposing defense, but the ball ended up going over the goal.

Despite a dominant start, Olimpia responded with a counter-attack, forcing Léo Nannetti into a great save after five minutes. Shortly after, Flamengo opened the scoring. In the 12th minute, Daniel Sales found Ryan Roberto on the right wing, who beat his marker and finished with class, using his left foot, to make it 1-0. With this goal, the number 11 shirt holder establishes himself as Flamengo's top scorer in the competition with 3 goals in 4 games.

The advantage, however, was short-lived. In the 16th minute, Olimpia was awarded a penalty. Faustino Barone took the shot to the right corner and, even though Nennetti guessed the right way, it leveled the score.

Despite the draw, Flamengo maintained control of the offensive actions. Ryan Roberto and Alan Santos still tried from outside the area, and Guilherme had a good opportunity in the 39th minute, but his shot went wide. Thus, after 2 minutes of added time, the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the second half, Flamengo continued to be more present in the attacking third, while Olimpia relied on counter-attacks. Flamengo's best opportunity before the second goal came in the 11th minute, when defender João Victor headed towards the corner, forcing goalkeeper Insfrán to make a crucial save.

At 28 minutes, the winning goal arrived. Alan took a corner kick towards João Victor, but the Olimpia defense partially cleared it. On the rebound, Pablo Lúcio, who had just entered the game, hit a beautiful first-time shot from outside the area to put Flamengo back in the lead, giving the opposing goalkeeper no chance: 2-1. The left-footed Pablo hit a powerful right-footed shot to find the back of the net.

In the final minutes, Flamengo managed the game well and relied on the continued solid performance of Léo Nannetti, who made important saves, including a point-blank one from a Ledesma shot, securing the result.

After five minutes of added time, the referee ended the match and confirmed Flamengo's qualification for yet another Libertadores Sub-20 final.

The Flamengo youth team returns to the field on Sunday (22) to face Santiago Wanderers-CHI, at 18:30 pm (Brasília time), for the title decision. The Libertadores Sub-20 final will also take place at the Banco Guayaquil Stadium and FlamengoTV will broadcast it once again, with images.
