Joaquín Freitas signs five-year deal after impressing at River Plate

Argentine forward Joaquín Freitas signed a five-year contract with Flamengo on Tuesday, September 1st, at the club's George Helal training centre. The 19-year-old completed his move in a formal signing ceremony with director José Boto, and will wear number 30 for the Rubro-Negro.
Born in San Fernando, Argentina, Freitas began his professional career at Acassuso in May 2023 at just 16 years old. He progressed to River Plate, where he remained through 2026 and developed into one of the most promising talents in Argentine youth football.
The young forward has also represented Argentina at youth international level and featured among the squad selected for preparatory friendlies ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"Flamengo is a massive club with supporters who give incredible backing and follow the team with passion," Freitas said. "This motivates me greatly and makes me very happy. I'll give everything for this shirt, fight for every ball as if it were the last, and I hope to bring joy to the Nation. I'm eager to experience this opportunity and play at the Maracanã with all the supporters behind us."
