Flamengo Basketball learned its opponent for the Carioca Championship final on Wednesday (30). Fluminense advanced to the decider after defeating Botafogo 84-74 at Laranjeiras, securing the second spot in the decisive clash. The Rio derby will take place on October 15 at Tijuca Tennis Club, with kickoff time to be confirmed.
The Rubro-Negro arrives at the final undefeated in the 2026/27 season. Coach Demétrius Ferracciú's squad has won all four matches played so far. In the Carioca tournament, Flamengo opened with a dominant 97-74 victory over Fluminense at Tijuca, then edged past Botafogo 97-77 at General Severiano, securing a spot in the final before the tournament concluded.
Flamengo subsequently traveled to Uruguay and maintained their winning streak in two key international tuneups. In Montevidéu, the Rubro-Negro claimed a 75-72 comeback triumph against Peñarol before edging Biguá 92-77, wrapping up their stint in the country with two consecutive wins.
Before the state final, Flamengo faces further commitments. Between October 6-10, the team competes in the NBB Opening Tournament in Minas Gerais. Thereafter, all focus turns to the Fla-Flu title clash. Brazil's most decorated state champion, Flamengo pursues its 50th Rio title and 19th straight crown.
