Flamengo's impressive run came to an end on Saturday (26) as they were beaten 3-1 by rivals Fluminense in the eighth round of the 2026 Guanabara Cup Under-20 at CT George Helal. Diego Guimarães netted the Rubro-Negro's only goal in the defeat.
The loss halted an eight-match unbeaten streak in the youth category, with seven of those games coming in the competition. Flamengo fielded a depleted squad, missing defender João Victor Souza and goalkeeper Léo Nannetti, both called up to the Brazilian Under-20 squad.

Flamengo started brightly and dominated possession in the opening stages, but Fluminense took the lead through a set piece when Breno headed in from a corner in the 25th minute of the first half.
Fluminense extended their advantage early in the second period when Italo Vinícius made it 2-0 after 12 minutes. Flamengo pulled one back in the 17th minute when Douglas Telles found Diego Guimarães on the right, and the forward clinched a well-taken finish to reduce the deficit.
Westly Natã sealed the win for Fluminense in the 30th minute, ending a competitive encounter that saw ten yellow cards issued — eight to Fluminense players, including coach Fred. No red cards were shown despite a hostile atmosphere.
