Flamengo secured their quarter-final berth in the Brazilian Women's Championship in style, dismantling Atlético Mineiro 4-1 at Luso Brasileiro with a commanding home performance under Celso Silva. Djeni bagged a brace, while Kaylane and Fernanda added the other goals in a one-sided affair that sees the Rubro-Negro set to face Ferroviária in the knockout stage.
The Match
Flamengo's dominance was evident from kick-off. In the third minute, Cristiane orchestrated a flowing move and found Kaylane, whose composed finish released Djeni to strike home with a superb finish: 1-0. The hosts threatened again moments later, but the referee flagged Cristiane for offside after she netted.
The pressure mounted relentlessly. Mariana forced Maike Weber into a sharp save following Núbia's header. By the 28th minute, Cristiane had tested the Atlético goalkeeper once more. From such sustained pressure came the second goal on 34 minutes: Monalisa's delivery into the box was deflected by Núbia, allowing Djeni an easy finish. Before the interval, Djeni and Cristiane combined to spring Kaylane into space on the right; the youngster—called up to the U-20 World Cup—lashed in first-time to make it 3-0 at the break. A thoroughly dominant opening 45 minutes.
After the restart, the match became scrappier as Flamengo controlled proceedings and operated efficiently on the counter. A well-worked move down the right created space for Laysa, but Weber held firm. On the 30-minute mark of the second half, Fernanda's free-kick curled home to complete the rout at 4-0. Late in the match, an own goal by Núbia provided Atlético a consolation, but it merely punctuated an otherwise masterful evening for the visitors.
Flamengo's first-phase campaign was highly rewarding: fifth place overall, eight wins, six draws and just three defeats. That consistency earned their quarter-final slot with resilience and quality on display throughout.
