Flamengo has been named among five candidates for the men's best club award at the Ballon d'Or 2026. France Football announced the shortlist on Tuesday, September 8, placing the Rio de Janeiro side alongside Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Bodø/Glimt and Paris Saint-Germain. The Rubro-Negro are the only South American representative in the running.
The nomination caps a period of significant achievements for Flamengo. Within the timeframe considered for the award, the club lifted the CONMEBOL Libertadores and the 2025 Brazilian Championship trophies, along with the 2026 Rio State Championship. In presenting the nominees, Ballon d'Or highlighted Flamengo's strength, consistency and continental prominence throughout the evaluation period.
The historic 2025 season featured Flamengo's fourth Libertadores crown, secured with a 1-0 victory over Palmeiras in the final in Lima—a goal from Danilo—and the domestic title. In 2026, Flamengo maintained its winning form, claimed the state championship once more and continues its pursuit of major honours this season.
The winner of the award will be announced on October 26 during the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London, England.
