Flamengo will be represented by three athletes at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, competing from October 29-31 in the United Arab Emirates. Karol Gimenes (-78kg), Marcelo Gomes (-90kg) and Giovanna Santos (+78kg) are part of Brazil's delegation for one of the sport's most important international fixtures.
The tournament ranks among the premier events on judo's global calendar and serves as part of the qualifying process for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The event brings together competitors from around the world vying for medals and crucial ranking points.
The three Rubro-Negro judokas will enter competition on the final day of the event, Saturday the 31st. Gimenes competes in the under-78kg category, Gomes in the middleweight under-90kg division, and Santos in the over-78kg category, representing Brazil on the international stage.
In total, Brazil will field 19 athletes at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, marking another key international test for the Brazilian Judo Federation as the season reaches its final stretch.
