Flamengo Maricá's first match in the Carioca Feminino Championship will be contested by the U-20 category. The squad – current Brazilian champions and in final preparations for the fourth edition of the Copinha – will face Araruama on Wednesday afternoon (28), at 3pm, at Gávea, with live transmission on FlamengoTV.
The decision was made based on the calendar. Next Tuesday (3), Flamengo will face Bahia at Arena Fonte Nova in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semifinal. With that fixture in mind, coach Celso Silva will use the time to train the senior squad. The current focus is on securing a place in the national tournament's final.
During the 2026 season, the U-20 side won the Brazilian Championship in May and, more recently, the Torneio Internacional Estrelas. It is worth noting that earlier in the year, the team played a Copa Rio Professional match reinforced by players Ana Laura, Bibi, Bruna, Fabi Simões and Maisa. The occasion was marked by Fabi's return to the pitch and a 7-0 rout of Real Heips.

According to André Rocha, manager of women's football, this is an excellent opportunity in the long term, considering the success of Rubro-Negro's youth development process.
- With the Copa do Brasil semifinal dates confirmed, we decided that our U-20 squad will make their debut in the state championship. We took this decision prioritizing proper preparation time and physical recovery for our senior squad. We have full confidence in the work developed in our youth categories. The group is highly prepared and will certainly represent the professional team with distinction, maintaining our competitiveness on the pitch – he said.
