The game
The match began with Internacional having more possession of the ball, exchanging passes in the attacking half. The initial minutes were very disjointed with little ball movement. Gradually, Flamengo took control of the game and advanced into the attacking half, where they tried to build plays based on short passes.
At 26 minutes, the ball was in Inter's area, Paquetá got the rebound, but his shot went straight into Rochet's hands. The Flamengo team was getting close to Inter's area, but they were failing to finish their plays. Throughout the game, Flamengo insisted on sending balls into the area, but the opposing defense prevailed in the air.
In stoppage time of the first half, Internacional opened the scoring. On a counter-attack, Alan Patrick passed to Carbonero, who then passed to Borré on the right. The striker got the better of Léo Ortiz and shot to score the first goal of the game.
After the break, Filipe Luís made two changes to the team. Varela and Pedro came on for Emerson Royal and Bruno Henrique, respectively. Four minutes in, Arrascaeta tried to cross for Varela, but Paquetá anticipated the pass and headed wide.
In their quest for an equalizer, Flamengo leveled the score in the 23rd minute. Varela was brought down in the area by Bernabéi, and the referee awarded a penalty. Arrascaeta took the kick and simply placed the ball past the goalkeeper to score the winning goal for Flamengo: 1-1.
Looking for the comeback, Flamengo continued their attack, pressuring Inter. In the 29th minute, Carrascal, who came on for Paquetá, received the ball in the box and shot. Rochet saved with his foot. In the final minutes, the game went back and forth, with both teams searching for the winning goal. After 10 minutes of added time, the referee blew the final whistle with the score tied.
