Flamengo return to action on Wednesday, November 4, to face Grêmio at the Maracanã at 7.30pm BRT for matchday 34 of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The league leaders are seeking another victory against the Rio Grande do Sul outfit to extend their advantage at the top of the table and edge closer to championship glory.
The Rubro-Negro arrive on the back of an impressive 4-1 victory over Vasco. Leonardo Jardim's men have now gone 14 matches unbeaten—10 wins and four draws in that run—and the head coach will be intent on maintaining the momentum. Should Flamengo take all three points, they will open up a six-point gap over second-placed Palmeiras, who play on Thursday.
Jardim will be without Plata, who is suspended following his third yellow card. Lucas Paquetá (left knee issue), Alex Sandro (left thigh injury) and Danilo (recovering from jaw surgery) are expected to miss out.
Head-to-head record
Flamengo and Grêmio have met 127 times in history. The Rubro-Negro have 45 wins to Grêmio's 42, with 40 draws between the sides. The pair have found perfect balance in goals too—159 scored each.
Over the past 20 encounters, however, Flamengo hold the edge with 13 victories, four draws and three defeats. In the first half of this season's Campeonato Brasileiro, Jardim's side won 1-0, with Carrascal on the scoresheet.
The two clubs met twice in 2025 during the domestic campaign. Flamengo claimed a 2-0 win in Porto Alegre, with Arrascaeta scoring twice, before the sides drew 1-1 at the Maracanã.
