Athletes from Flamengo's U-17 volleyball squad visited children and adolescents supported by the Associação Beneficente São Martinho in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday. Organized by the Club's Social Responsibility Department, the initiative created an afternoon of interaction, sport, and literacy encouragement.
São Martinho provides social protection for children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 living in vulnerable conditions and social risk, particularly those from urban occupations and territories marked by social inequality.

Fundamentals and Experience Exchange
Under the guidance of coach Marcelo Souza de Sá, the young Rubro-Negro athletes demonstrated the main volleyball fundamentals to the children and shared insights from their own journeys in the sport. The encounter was filled with interaction, curiosity, and the team spirit that defines the game.
For the young people supported by São Martinho, the chance to meet athletes up close made the day extra special.
"I really enjoyed the activity and learned so much," said Brenda, 16. "I've always wanted to know more about volleyball. I loved meeting the players. It was a really great day."

Books for the Library
Beyond the sporting activity, the athletes donated children's books to the institution's library. The donation expands the collection available to the young people served and reinforces the importance of reading and education in youth development. The children also received Flamengo backpacks and cups.
Learning Goes Both Ways
For Flamengo's athletes, the experience was equally valuable—an opportunity to learn and connect with a reality different from their daily training and competition routines.
"It was a very special activity that brought people together and increased our understanding," said Pedro Moura da Fonseca, Flamengo U-17 volleyball athlete. "It's so important to connect with others."

The initiative is part of Flamengo's Social Responsibility Department's ongoing efforts to extend sport's positive impact beyond courts and pitches, creating experiences that support youth development, inclusion, and education. Beyond teaching volleyball's first lessons, the visit reinforced a message at sport's core: playing together means sharing, inspiring, and opening new paths.
