Clarisse Vallim Claims Cadet Judo World Title for Second Consecutive Year

Clarisse Vallim added another defining chapter to her judo career this weekend, claiming her second consecutive cadet world championship in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The Flamengo judoka defended her 2025 title with a dominant campaign in the up-to-70kg category, cementing her status atop the sport's youth hierarchy.

Ariving in Ecuador as defending champion and one of Brazil's marquee names at the tournament, Vallim executed a flawless defensive strategy. Advancing methodically through each bout, she secured gold once again and became a two-time world champion in her category—a rare achievement even among elite junior competitors.

The accomplishment marks the latest milestone in the young judoka's accelerating trajectory. Still competing at cadet level, Clarisse has already accumulated senior-competition experience and delivered podium finishes at the game's highest echelon, underscoring her standing within the Brazilian national team's elite contingent.

Upon returning to the top step of the podium, Vallim offered gratitude to supporters and reinforced her pride in representing Flamengo's colors.

"I'm here to thank everyone for their support and to say how proud I am to represent this badge. Thank you so much for cheering for me!", Vallim said.

Flamengo's World Cadet Championship campaign closed with a second medal on Sunday (23). Manuela Maia secured silver in the team event, competing for Brazil.

Captain of the Brazilian contingent, Maia proved instrumental in the team's bid, winning every bout in the team tournament against opponents from Canada, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan. With silver secured, Brazil emerged as the sole non-Asian nation on the podium in team competition.

Flamengo therefore concluded the Guayaquil World Cadet Championship with two medal-winning athletes: Clarisse Vallim, individual world champion, and Manuela Maia, world runner-up in team competition.
