Flamengo Claims 3-0 Win Over Sampaio Corrêa in Guanabara Cup U-20

Flamengo claimed a commanding 3-0 victory over Sampaio Corrêa on Friday, October 2, at the George Helal training centre in the ninth round of the 2026 Guanabara Cup U-20. Victor Hugo opened the scoring in the first half, before Jhefinho and Andrew Nathan added goals in the second period to secure three crucial points for the Nest's youngsters.

The Match

Flamengo started aggressively and broke the deadlock in the 14th minute. Following a build-up from goalkeeper distribution, the ball reached Rafael Henrique, who tested the goalkeeper. Though the save was made, Victor Hugo was alert to the rebound and finished to put his side ahead.

In the second half, the academy side continued to create chances and doubled their lead in the 28th minute. Jhefinho, recently introduced, received a pass from Sayago and converted clinically to make it 2-0.

One minute later, Sampaio Corrêa were reduced to ten men when Luan received a second yellow card and was sent off.

In the 41st minute, Sayago provided another assist. The Argentine midfielder found Andrew Nathan, who beat his marker and finished past the goalkeeper's near post to seal a 3-0 scoreline.

"I'm very happy with the goal and for the opportunity the coach gave me. Most importantly, it's a win for the team. It was my first full 90-minute match and I believe I put in a strong performance. I want to thank everyone for their work and our result," Nathan said.
