Flamengo Sub-20 Opens Carioca Campaign Against Vasco at CT das Vargens

Flamengo's U-20 women's side are back in action. Following their Brazilian championship double over São Paulo and a break for the World Cup, the squad led by coach Filipe Torres will debut in the Carioca State Championship this Sunday (16), at 10am, facing Vasco at CT das Vargens. FlamengoTV will broadcast live.

Reigning back-to-back champions of the competition – including a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Fluminense in 2025 – the Rio side had plenty of time to prepare. With their last fixture in May, the Gávea players underwent an extended preseason, allowing the coaching staff to fine-tune details for the second half of 2026. According to midfielder Nicoli, it's time to translate weeks of training into performance on the pitch.

"I believe we've done solid preparation over these months. We know this is a demanding competition and we need to leave everything on the field to win the title again. We're confident and our expectations are high for this debut. Derbies are decided on small details, and we want to start with three points," she said.

Carioca U-20 Women's Format

The tournament is split into two phases. In the first stage, the six clubs face each other in a round-robin format. Afterwards, the top two teams advance to the final, which will be played over two legs.
