Flamengo officially confirmed on Wednesday afternoon (28th) that centre-back Danilo has extended his contract through December 2027. The player signed his new deal at the George Helal Training Centre, accompanied by his sons João and Miguel, and will continue to represent the Rubro-Negro for an additional season.
Following the signing, the number 13 reflected on the continuity of his time at the club and described the period since his arrival at Flamengo as a duty fulfilled.
"The first feeling is duty fulfilled. Since I arrived at Flamengo nearly two years ago, the objective was to develop work at an internal and external level. The goal was to win important trophies, to make Flamengo's history even richer in titles. I think the feeling is of duty fulfilled so far, for having helped Flamengo expand this gallery of trophies of importance in world football", he stated.

Since his debut on February 2, 2025, in a 3-1 victory over Botafogo in the Copa do Brasil Super Cup, Danilo has made 57 appearances, scoring six goals and providing two assists. In 2026, he has featured in 21 matches with one goal to his name.
Close to the club's identity, the defender played a decisive role in Flamengo's conquest of the CONMEBOL Libertadores in 2025. He scored the header that secured a 1-0 victory over Palmeiras in the final, held in Lima, Peru.
The number 13's successful career trajectory also includes spells at América-MG, Santos, Porto, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Juventus. With the Rubro-Negro, he has won five titles: Copa do Brasil Super Cup (2025), Rio de Janeiro State Championship (2025 and 2026), Libertadores (2025) and Brazilian Championship (2025).

Danilo has also built a distinguished career on the international stage. He is the only player to have won the Libertadores twice (with Santos in 2011 and with Flamengo in 2025) and the European Champions League twice (with Real Madrid in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons). For the Brazilian national team, he has 75 appearances, one goal and four assists, with participation in three FIFA World Cups (2018, 2022 and 2026), two Copa América tournaments (2021 and 2024) and the 2012 Olympic Games.
José Boto, Flamengo's football director, highlighted the defender's contribution both on and off the pitch as a key factor in the contract extension.
"He was my second signing when I arrived here. A very important player, not just for what he delivers on the pitch, but for everything he does off it as well. The daily work and group unity are points just as important as his performances on the field."
The director also praised the player's international experience and influence on younger squad members.
"He is an athlete with a unique track record, always a winner. Someone who has much to pass on to our younger players", he added.
Danilo also outlined upcoming challenges and reaffirmed his ambition to continue winning trophies with the Rubro-Negro.
"More titles, victories and important goals—those are undoubtedly our objectives. A lot of hard work, plenty of preparation. Flamengo's history demands nothing less than total commitment, resilience and, of course, winning trophies. I think playing for Flamengo is always this positive pressure of fighting for important things and lifting the biggest possible trophies", he concluded.
