Flamengo Claims Sixth Regatta Victory, Keeps State Championship Hopes Alive
Red-Black outfit edges rivals on Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon; title fate hinges on regulations appeal

Flamengo secured victory in last Saturday's Sixth State Rowing Championship Regatta, held at Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon Rowing Stadium. The Red-Black side captured five events across the day's program and maintains their push for the Rio de Janeiro state title.
The overall championship standings, however, remain unsettled pending Flamengo's appeal of a regulatory decision. Currently trailing Botafogo by 10 points following a disqualification in the Under-23 Four without Coxswain event—ruled due to a uniform violation by one of the rowers—Flamengo has filed an appeal citing the Rowing Code.
The club argues that the rulebook dictates the irregularity should result in a last-place finish for the crew, not outright disqualification. Should the appeal succeed, Flamengo would receive 12 points and seize a two-point lead atop the standings over Botafogo.
The stakes are heightened by the compressed schedule: only one regatta remains before the championship concludes. The postponed Fourth Regatta is set for November 7 at the same venue and will likely prove decisive in determining the Carioca (Rio state) rowing crown.
In Saturday's Sixth Regatta, beyond Flamengo's five wins, Botafogo took three events, Vasco claimed two, while Piraquê and Guanabara each captured one.
