In another important test ahead of the 2026/2027 season, Sesc RJ Flamengo fell to Dentil Praia Clube at the All-Star match on Saturday (Oct. 3) in Campo Bom, Rio Grande do Sul, losing in a tiebreak: 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20 and 12-15. Coach Bernardinho's squad now shifts focus to the Rio de Janeiro State Championship opener, scheduled for Tuesday (Oct. 6) at 6pm against Tijuca Tênis Clube in Tijuca, away from home.
American outside hitter Simone Lee led all scorers with 22 points, followed by opposite Tainara with 18, middle blocker Lorena with 14, and outside hitter Mikaela with 12. Despite the loss, the team demonstrated collective strength at key moments throughout the match.
"It's early in the season and clearly we still have plenty of situations to fine-tune," said setter Giovana. "I believe we're growing. This match was crucial for our preparation. Once again, we fought back and pushed for the win, just as we did last week in Niterói. We're showing our character. Now it's about continuing to train hard and making a strong start in the Rio championship." Giovana also referenced the recent Copa SuperVôlei title, which came against the same Dentil Praia Clube side.
